In our studio we have decided to test out Adobe Edge Preview. With the first test run project we've create a simple bird flight animation in HTML5. The first thing that we did is draw out the bird (not the actual bird that we are currently using). We did this in different frames: Perching bird, flapping bird, facing bird, and a couple of open wing drawings. Read More

The post Adobe Edge Preview – Creating an Animated Bird appeared first on San Jose Web Design | San Francisco Website Design | Development Company.

In our studio we’d decided to create an animated bird with Adobe new product called Adobe Edge Preview. With the first test run we’d created a simple animation in HTML5. The first thing that we did was draw out the bird (not the actual bird that we are currently using). We did this in different frames: perching bird, flapping bird, facing bird, and a couple of open wing drawings.

Image Below:

Then we vectorized the drawings in Adobe Illustrator to create some scalable images of the bird. With these images we were able to create the frames necessary for the birds taking flight from one end of our screen to the next.

From our storyboard we wanted to take the bird from the right side of the screen flying right next to Xillent logo. Bird came in from the right and perched on our “contact us” button and swoop down-up right across the screen into the empty circle next to our logo. We finished it off like this.

You can preview an image of it right here:

With the final bird looking like this:

Please view the bird in action by visiting the link below. We could had added in JS effects as the bird hovers over different part of the site but left it out for simplicity.

Conclusion: One problem that we’ve found while using Edge Preview was that it was still in its Beta phase and when the newer version came out we’ve encountered some incompatibility issues opening up our older Edge file. But we were glad that we were able to create an animation without using Flash.

View the final Bird in Flight (we did not use this bird and the animation in this demo on our our homepage. We went for a bird of prey):

Android is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. It is developed by the Open Handset Alliance led by Google.

Android has a large community of developers writing applications (“apps”) that extend the functionality of the devices. Developers write primarily in a customized version of Java. Apps can be downloaded from third-party sites or through online stores such as Google Play (formerly Android Market), the app store run by Google. As of February 2012 there were more than 450,000 apps available for Android, and the estimated number of applications downloaded from the Android Market as of December 2011 exceeded 10 billion.

Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe Systems Incorporated.
Adobe’s 2003 “Creative Suite” rebranding led to Adobe Photoshop 8′s renaming to Adobe Photoshop CS. Thus, Adobe Photoshop CS5 is the 12th major release of Adobe Photoshop. The CS rebranding also resulted in Adobe offering numerous software packages containing multiple Adobe programs for a reduced price. Adobe Photoshop is released in two editions: Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Photoshop Extended, with the Extended having extra 3D image creation, motion graphics editing, and advanced image analysis features.[7] Adobe Photoshop Extended is included in all of Adobe’s Creative Suite offerings except Design Standard, which includes the Adobe Photoshop edition.

Query is a cross-browser JavaScript library designed to simplify the client-side scripting of HTML.[1] It was released in January 2006 at BarCamp NYC by John Resig. Used by over 55% of the 10,000 most visited websites, jQuery is the most popular JavaScript library in use today.

jQuery is free, open source software, dual-licensed under the MIT License or the GNU General Public License, Version 2.[4] jQuery’s syntax is designed to make it easier to navigate a document, select DOM elements, create animations, handle events, and develop Ajax applications. jQuery also provides capabilities for developers to create plug-ins on top of the JavaScript library. This enables developers to create abstractions for low-level interaction and animation, advanced effects and high-level, theme-able widgets. The modular approach to the jQuery library allows the creation of powerful dynamic web pages and web applications.
